Bunnyphonic
You can’t get more underground than this. Such a singular artist, the mysterious Bunnyphonic at first appears rather cutesy and quirky, all sprung from a quaint Victoriana music box… But look further into her lo-fi recordings and samples and you will see a murkier shade of pink, slowly flowing among the mushrooms, candy, and bunting and Ferris wheels. Using an accordion to pluck out melodies of discord, creating odd shapes of sound, her music is unnerving, whilst her performance art can be thoughtful and distressing as well as hysterically comical. The fairy-tale-like image in my mind is deceived as I realise that gloopy pink liquid is actually a blood mush. I wade my way through it all with content.
